Existential Counselling
Existential Counselling explores how we find meaning and make choices in the face of life’s big questions — freedom, purpose, mortality, and isolation. At Chippenham Counselling Practice, I help adults navigate these universal challenges with honesty and compassion.
Based in Pewsham, Chippenham, I offer both in-person and online counselling for adults aged 18+, providing a calm, confidential space to explore what’s happening in your life and what might help you move forward.
Understanding the Existential Approach
Existential therapy begins with the idea that life itself doesn’t come with built-in meaning — we each create it through our values, relationships and choices. When faced with uncertainty, loss or change, we can feel anxious or stuck. Existential counselling helps you confront those feelings and live with greater authenticity and self-acceptance.
How It Works in Practice
In our sessions, we look at the beliefs that shape your view of the world, your fears about freedom or responsibility, and how you approach meaning in everyday life.
The aim isn’t to remove discomfort entirely but to help you relate to it differently; to live more consciously and deliberately.
Why This Approach May Help
Existential counselling can be particularly helpful for:
Life transitions or crises of meaning
Bereavement or loss
Anxiety about freedom, responsibility or mortality
Feelings of emptiness or disconnection
Sessions take place in my peaceful counselling room in Pewsham, Chippenham, or online.
